It’s here, the Steam Summer Sale 2013 has landed!

Day One

It was prophesied for today by many but I was a doubting Thomas and would not believe till I saw. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t super excited about the sale because I pretty much own all the games that I’m interested in. If the prices are right, I could be tempted to purchase:

Remember! No matter how big the discount is (unless it’s a glitch, or secret sale, or a really good like 75%+ off flash sale or community choice), don’t buy the game until it is a Daily Deal. If the game doesn’t come on Daily Deal by the last day, then buy it at whatever discounted price it is. That’s the best way to make sure you get the most out of this sale.

Steam Trading Cards

Valve have added Trading Cards to this year’s Summer Sale. I don’t really understand it, but it seems to be like a whole other meta game designed to get you to spend more money. Click the image to take you to the FAQ. There are lots of ways to get badges, the easiest is to participate in the Community Vote, but you also get a card for each $10 USD you spend. Knowing how video game currency conversions go, that $10 = £10. You can also craft, trade and buy cards so I’m sure there will be people who get heavily into it. The cards can be redeemed for stuff, I don’t think that includes games, but who knows?

Community's Choice 1

So far there isn’t anything that I want, but if Dishonored wins the Community’s Choice Vote tonight, then I could be tempted.
