After making and failing New Years Resolutions, I degreed that they were dumb, so I stopped. If you don’t make plans or goals how can you fail right? Silly, silly me. If you don’t make goals how can you know what you’ve achieved and how far you’ve come? This year I’ve decided to look at what I want from gaming. Instead of creating grand and lofty goals I’ve chosen to create more realistic and attainable goals.
Since I’ve become active in the Team Fortress 2 (TF2) community, gaming has stopped being a pastime that I enjoyed and turned more into a job. Which is great! But I still want that sense of relaxation and enjoyment from gaming. While the organisational aspect of it is fun too, that’s not all I want from my gaming time, I don’t want to be exhausted when I get done organising something and not feel like I can turn to gaming to relax.
Plus I miss other games! Team Fortress 2 is fantastic, but I’m falling back into old habits like with WoW where if only focus on one game. I have a ton of games I haven’t finished, so 2013 is going to be a year of Endings.
I started this year with finishing Bulletstorm, for such a short game I spent too long dilly dallying with the ending. I wrote a longer review of the game earlier before I completed the game praising it. Now that I’ve finished it I can say my premature opinion of the game was correct, it really is a lot of fun. No spoilers but the ending leaves room for more games but still rounds things off quite nicely.
- This year I also want to get into the gaming industry, be it Marketing, or working in some sort of social media capacity. I’m not incredibly technical, but I’m pretty willing to learn if I have someone to explain it to me. So yes, a job in the gaming industry. That would be pretty awesome.
- I want to write more reviews! It was so much fun writing the review for Bulletstorm, and even though it took me longer to finish than I would have liked, it was nice sharing the excitement with other people. I guess this ties in with me finishing games. Whoo! I can do it!
- I want The Round Robin to be really successful. We have a ton of really good ideas that we’re thinking of implementing and I really hope it works out.
Hmm. I know there are others, but I’ve been tinkering with this list for four days and I think I should just publish it and be done with it. 2013 will bring what it will bring :)
